An innovative petrol station and service area on the A9. The eye-catcher in the expansive landscape - the gable roof with its illuminated underside.
The Fürholzen service station is located on the A9 between Nuremberg and Munich. In addition to the petrol station, there is a shop, a restaurant and sanitary facilities on the site. The adjacent car park has more than 250 parking spaces for cars, trucks and buses.
The lighting design challenge was the attractive staging of the premises designed by the interior designers W2 Manufaktur, Leogang / Austria.
In contrast to the often uniform lighting of service areas, in this project the guest room was staged like a stage. Narrow-beam luminaires integrated into the ceiling were used to stage the counters and seating areas. Decorative pendant luminaires developed for this project emphasise the spatial effect as "light to look at".
Even from a distance, the gable roof, visible from afar and illuminated as a whole, invites travellers to take a detour.
Despite being limited to the essentials, an inviting and cosy atmosphere is created not least by the harmonious lighting, especially in the shop area, through the light-dark contrasts. Seating offers travellers a sheltering place for a few minutes of rest and at the same time provides a view into the spacious and generously laid out room.
